Egypt's Minister of Supply visits Egyptian Food Bank

Egypt's Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Dr. Sherif Farouk, visited the Egyptian Food Bank to discuss enhancing cooperation regarding food security and expanding social protection for vulnerable families. The meeting, attended by Egyptian Food Bank CEO Mohsen Sarhan, focused on utilizing shared databases to more accurately identify high-need areas and prevent the duplication of aid.

Discussions included the potential development of the ‘Free Mart’ outlet model and the possibility of utilizing the Ministry of Supply's warehouse network and logistics infrastructure. The two parties are also exploring non-cash support models, such as food coupons and vouchers, to allow beneficiaries to access a variety of goods through approved outlets.

Additionally, the collaboration aims to improve nutritional quality and promote healthy consumption through awareness programs and more nutritionally balanced food baskets.
