Egypt's Ministry of Agriculture expands livestock and poultry sector

Egypt's Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation reported significant developments in the livestock, poultry, and feed sectors during August. The ministry issued 907 operating licenses for various activities, including 167 permits for small-scale livestock breeders coordinated with the General Organization for Veterinary Services.

To support the sector, 777 registrations were approved for feed mixtures and additives, consisting of 416 local and 361 imported varieties. Additionally, 28 technical approvals were granted for new production projects in desert areas to ensure biosecurity. The ministry also provided technical support to 47 feed factories covering 106 production lines.

In terms of enforcement, authorities supervised the destruction of 2,304 tons and 1,200 liters of non-compliant imported feed additives to prevent them from entering the market. Furthermore, 59.85 million Egyptian pounds in new funding was approved for 47 beneficiaries to support the fattening of 855 head of livestock under the national cattle project.
