Egypt's Ministry of Endowments expands religious outreach and mosque renovations

The Egyptian Ministry of Endowments is expanding its religious and infrastructural initiatives across several governorates. On August 28, 2026, the Ministry deployed extensive missionary convoys to 32 mosques in the Port Said and Suez directorates. These convoys, involving 32 imams from the General Bureau, aim to promote moderate religious thought and social values through Friday sermons focused on mercy and human dignity.

Simultaneously, the Ministry is continuing its program to renovate and establish houses of worship. A total of 17 mosques are scheduled for inauguration, including two new constructions, ten renovated mosques, and five maintained facilities. These openings span multiple regions, including Fayoum, Aswan, Beheira, Minya, Assiut, Qalyubia, Beni Suef, Sharqia, Qena, Alexandria, and Giza.

Since July 2026, the Ministry has opened 165 mosques. Since July 2014, the total number of mosques renovated, maintained, or furnished has reached 14,844, with an estimated total cost of approximately 28.734 billion Egyptian pounds.
