Overview
Egypt’s Ministry of Endowments continues to advance domestic religious outreach and infrastructural development alongside international cooperation efforts. Domestically, the Ministry has expanded its missionary convoys to promote moderate religious thought and social values. Under the sponsorship of Minister Osama al-Azhari, recent outreach caravans visited 41 mosques—22 in Suez and 19 in Port Said—utilizing 41 imams from the General Bureau to strengthen field presence and community awareness.
Infrastructural efforts remain a priority. On October 16, 2026, the Ministry inaugurated 20 mosques across several governorates, including Ismailia, Dakahlia, Fayoum, Aswan, Assiut, Matrouh, Beni Suef, Kafr El-Sheikh, Luxor, Qalyubia, and Qena. This batch included one new construction, eight replacements or renewals, and 11 maintained and developed sites. Since July 1, 2026, the Ministry has opened a total of 313 mosques, comprising 205 new constructions or renewals and 108 maintained sites.
Since July 2014, the Ministry reports that 14,992 facilities have been renovated, maintained, or furnished at a total cost of approximately 29.298 billion Egyptian pounds. To further social objectives, Minister al-Azhari met with Amal Ammar, President of the National Council for Women, to discuss a cooperation protocol aimed at enhancing community awareness, supporting women and family issues, and promoting citizenship and coexistence. On the international stage, the Ministry is seeking to expand religious and cultural ties with other nations.
