Egypt seeks to boost manufacturing and furniture sector competitiveness
Egypt is pursuing several initiatives to strengthen its manufacturing sector and enhance the competitiveness of its domestic products. Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem met with furniture manufacturers and designers to discuss developing a distinctive identity for Egyptian furniture. He emphasized the need to bridge the gap between designers and producers, develop skilled artisans, and increase export volumes through actionable industrial plans.
Separately, Minister of State for Military Production Salah Gamblat expressed a commitment to expanding international partnerships and localizing modern manufacturing technologies. During discussions with Romania’s Ambassador to Cairo, Gamblat highlighted the ministry’s goal to utilize surplus production capacity from military-affiliated companies to manufacture high-quality civilian products. This strategy aims to support the national economy and meet the needs of both the armed forces and the civilian market.
