Egypt's Minya Governorate Confiscates Illegal Food Dyes and Expired Products in Sweeping Inspection

Governor Imad Kadwani of Egypt’s Minya governorate announced a series of intensified inspections across the Minya and Matai districts, carried out by the Supreme Committee for Shop Licenses together with the National Food Safety Authority, the Supply Department and local authorities. The raids targeted markets, shops and food‑preparation facilities, uncovering large quantities of non‑food‑grade industrial dyes, expired bread, pasta, flour and spoiled juices, amounting to roughly 45 kg of prohibited material.

Legal action followed: two criminal cases were filed, four violations for lacking health certificates were recorded, and 20 reports of illegal road‑occupying structures were issued. All seized items were confiscated and forwarded to the public prosecutor for further investigation, underscoring the administration’s commitment to curb commercial fraud and protect public health.
