Egypt's Nile Cruise Fleet Grows with New AmaWaterways and Viking Vessels

AmaWaterways is adding a 76‑guest river ship, AmaNubia, to its Nile fleet in November. The vessel will offer 38 staterooms, including 15 suites, and a itinerary that visits the Pyramids of Giza, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Luxor, Karnak, the Valley of the Kings and other historic sites, with optional extensions to Abu Simbel, Jordan and Dubai. Guests will stay at luxury hotels such as the Four Seasons Cairo and The St. Regis Cairo, and each sailing will be accompanied by Egyptologists. CEO Catherine Powell said the strong demand from travelers and advisors supports further investment in Egypt.

Viking has taken delivery of its newest Nile ship, the Viking Ptah, at the Massara shipyard in Cairo. The 82‑guest vessel features 41 staterooms and runs a 12‑day "Pharaohs & Pyramids" itinerary. Viking plans to add 20 more river ships by 2028 and expand its ocean and expedition fleet by 2031, underscoring its growth strategy in experiential travel.
