Egypt's Sisi reviews 2026‑2030 national industrial strategy aiming $100 bn non‑oil exports

President Abdel Fattah Sisi met with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Industry Minister Khaled Hashem to assess the implementation of Egypt's National Industrial Strategy 2026‑2030. The ministers outlined a plan to raise non‑oil exports to $100 billion by 2030, emphasizing seven priority sectors: ready‑made garments, textiles, food, pharmaceuticals, automotive, electrical/electronic engineering, and related industries.

Key initiatives include expanding the automotive sector and localising electric‑vehicle production, advancing steel‑industry localisation, and launching the "Solar Industry" programme to install solar panels on the roofs of about 7,000 factories. The strategy also promotes digitalisation, private‑sector participation, streamlined regulations, and stronger integration with African economies under the continent’s 2063 agenda. Sisi stressed the need to tie each programme to clear timelines and to reinforce Egypt’s role in global supply chains.
