Egypt's Social Assistance Program Disburses 4 Billion EGP to 4.7 Million Families

Egypt's Ministry of Social Solidarity announced that on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, it will begin distributing the monthly cash assistance under the Takafol wa Karama programme. The disbursement totals more than 4 billion Egyptian pounds and is intended for 4.7 million families, covering roughly 17 million individuals.

Minister Maya Morsi said the payments will be available through all bank ATMs, branches of the Nasser Social Bank, Fawry outlets and the programme’s smart cards, allowing beneficiaries to receive funds electronically and avoid crowding at post offices. The ministry is coordinating with governors and local social‑development offices to ensure smooth delivery and to remove any obstacles.

Eligibility criteria include households without a salaried head earning over 400 EGP, families with members who are disabled, chronically ill, elderly, or orphaned, and those with school‑age children attending at least 80 % of classes. Applicants must not own agricultural land, vehicles or real estate. The programme aims to provide a regular monthly income to the poorest households and expand Egypt’s social safety net.
