Eight suspects processed for murder of journalist Roxana Guzmán in Veracruz
Eight people detained in connection with the kidnapping and killing of journalist Roxana Berenice Guzmán Ramírez were formally linked to the criminal case by a Veracruz court. The journalist, director of the digital outlet Pulso Informativo del Sureste, was abducted on 2 June 2026 at her home in Nanchital, Veracruz, and her body was discovered a month later near a ranch in the southern part of the state.
The court found sufficient evidence to presume the involvement of all eight detainees, including three members of the Ixhuatlán municipal police. The accused, identified by aliases such as “Delta 1”, “Delta 7”, “Delta 11”, “La Hiena”, and others, were ordered to remain in preventive detention while the criminal proceeding (case 365/2026) continues. Authorities said the investigations were carried out in compliance with the law and respecting human‑rights standards.
