Eighth Central Pay Commission announces nationwide consultation schedule

The Eighth Central Pay Commission, led by former Supreme Court Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, has announced a nationwide consultation process to discuss pay structures, allowances, and pension revisions for central government employees.

As part of its information-gathering efforts, the Commission will visit several cities. A scheduled visit to Bengaluru will take place on October 7 and 8, 2026. Stakeholders, including employee associations, unions, and institutions, are invited to interact with the Commission to present views and suggestions. Interested parties must submit appointment requests via an official online link by September 18, 2026.

Other scheduled meetings include Jaipur, Chennai, Puducherry, and Chandigarh. The Commission also intends to visit railway divisions under Mumbai's Central Railway Zone to assess the working conditions of railway employees. Key topics for discussion include minimum wage, the fitment factor, and service conditions.
