Israel election polls show Gadi Eisenkot leading Benjamin Netanyahu

As Israel approaches its October 27 elections, recent polling indicates a significant shift in the political landscape. Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the centrist Yashar party, is currently leading Benjamin Netanyahu in popularity and suitability for the Prime Minister role. Polling suggests the opposition bloc could secure approximately 67 seats in the 120-seat Knesset, while Netanyahu's governing coalition is projected to hold around 49 seats. Eisenkot's Yashar party is expected to win between 21 and 23 seats, while Netanyahu's Likud party is projected to receive between 20 and 23 seats.

In security matters, Prime Minister Netanyahu has warned enemies not to exploit the pre-election period for attacks, vowing that the IDF will maintain control in the West Bank. During a visit to the Tulkarm area, he rejected a Supreme Court ruling regarding the return of displaced Palestinians to refugee camps, labeling the displaced individuals as terrorists.

Additionally, reports have surfaced regarding potential military operations against Iran. While some reports suggest Donald Trump and Netanyahu discussed renewed strikes, Netanyahu has publicly denied requesting such an offensive before the elections. Meanwhile, Defense Minister Israel Katz has warned that any attacks against Israel or its citizens, before or after the elections, will result in severe consequences.
