Ekiti Governor Biodun Oyebanji dissolves boards and terminates political appointees
Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has approved the immediate dissolution of various boards, commissions, and parastatals, alongside the termination of appointments for several political appointees. The move affects Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, and Technical Assistants as the administration prepares for the conclusion of his first term and the inauguration of his second term on October 16, 2026.
Certain officials and institutions remain exempt from these changes. Statutory boards, including the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission, and Judicial Service Commission, will maintain their current chairmen and members. Additionally, the governing councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions remain intact.
While the boards for the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Local Government Service Commission, and Teaching Service Commission have been dissolved, their respective chairmen are to remain in office. Directors-General and Technical Advisers to the Governor are also excluded from the termination of appointments.
