Ekiti State police warn transport unions of protest, praise peaceful election

Ekiti State Police Commissioner Falade Michael warned transport unions that a planned protest could devolve into violence, disorder and loss of lives. He urged unions and aggrieved parties to use lawful channels to air grievances and said any unlawful assembly would be met with decisive police action.

The Nigeria Police Force also commended the conduct of the recent Ekiti governorship election, describing it as peaceful, orderly and largely free of major security incidents. Police thanked voters, election officials, political stakeholders and security personnel for maintaining peace and urged continued democratic participation.

Both statements highlight the police’s dual role in preventing potential unrest and reinforcing democratic processes within Ekiti State.
