Ekrem İmamoğlu criticizes Silivri trial as a judicial scandal
Detained Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has criticized the ongoing legal proceedings in Silivri, describing the trial as a “judicial scandal.” Writing for Cumhuriyet newspaper, İmamoğlu stated that the court failed to ask witnesses fundamental questions regarding their actual relationship or contact with him, despite them making numerous allegations. He argued that the proceedings lack a search for truth and justice, suggesting the trial is a scripted scenario designed to target the future of Turkey.
CHP Ordu Deputy Mustafa Adıgüzel also commented on the İBB case, asserting that the legal file contains serious allegations and is not “empty,” contrary to some political claims. Adıgüzel criticized the CHP leadership for allowing the party's agenda to become overly focused on the Silivri proceedings, arguing that this shift has caused the public's pressing economic and social concerns to be sidelined.
