El Bocal tragedy: Judge summons Dragados officials to testify

A judge investigating the El Bocal tragedy in Santander has summoned several witnesses to testify on October 30. The investigation follows the collapse of a coastal walkway in March, an incident that resulted in the deaths of six students and left one survivor with serious injuries.

Witnesses called to testify include a group leader from the contracting company Dragados, the company’s quality manager, and a representative from Fronda, the entity responsible for manufacturing the walkway. The judge aims to identify those involved in the material execution of the infrastructure to address technical questions regarding its construction.

In addition to the summons, the court has requested Dragados to provide quality control procedures, material acquisition protocols for state works active in 2014, and the 'Inspection Point Plan' related to the collapsed walkway. Furthermore, a forensic medical report has been ordered to assess the health status and injuries of the sole survivor.
