El Marqués awarded for mental health strategy
The municipality of El Marqués has been awarded the 2026 Best Local Government Practices Award in the Emotional Wellbeing category. The recognition, presented by Alcaldes de México magazine, honors the creation of Centro Vive, the Municipal Institute for the Prevention and Care of Risk Behaviors.
Centro Vive serves as a pioneering institution in Querétaro, focusing on mental health through prevention, care, and accompaniment strategies. Claudia Martínez Guevara, Cabinet Coordinator, accepted the award on behalf of Mayor Rodrigo Monsalvo Castelán during a ceremony at the Centro Banamex in Mexico City.
The award follows previous recognition for the municipality’s Mental Health Action Plan, which received the Francisco Villarreal Torres 2025 award from the National Association of Mayors (ANAC). The current honor highlights the integration of mental health strategies into permanent municipal public policy.
