El Marqués mental health and public policy initiatives

The municipality of El Marqués has implemented and received recognition for its mental health and emotional wellbeing initiatives.

As part of a professionalization process, the Municipal Public Security Secretariat (SSPM) introduced specialized training for police officers. Conducted by specialists from the Municipal Institute for the Prevention and Attention of Risk Behaviors (Centro Vive El Marqués), these workshops focus on mental health, assertive communication, emotional management, and constructive conflict resolution to improve both internal workplace relationships and citizen interactions.

Following these efforts, the municipality was granted the 2026 Best Local Government Practices Award in the Emotional Wellbeing category by Alcaldes de México magazine. This award honors the creation of Centro Vive, which serves as a specialized institution for mental health prevention and care in Querétaro. This recognition follows previous honors for the municipality’s Mental Health Action Plan, signaling the integration of these strategies into permanent public policy.
