El Salvador accelerates measles vaccination; Puno reports first measles case
In El Salvador, health authorities have administered about 17,000 doses of measles vaccine as part of an intensive immunization push, with 11 confirmed cases reported to date, all imported. Health Minister Francisco Alabi stated this during a recent interview, emphasizing the import status of the cases while the campaign continues to curb transmission.
In Peru’s Puno region, officials confirmed the first measles case in the regional capital. The case involves a minor treated in the Coata district, and the Red de Salud Puno, led by Darwin Hidalgo Blanco, said authorities are increasing vaccination and surveillance. Two additional suspected cases are under evaluation as part of the response.
