El Salvador and China strengthen ties through technology and diplomacy

El Salvador and China are deepening bilateral ties through high-level diplomatic engagement and technological cooperation. A congressional delegation led by Legislative Assembly President Ernesto Castro visited China to meet with National People’s Congress officials, including Zhao Leji, to strengthen legislative governance and trade relations.

Beyond political dialogue, the partnership is expanding into technical sectors to address climate challenges. China has offered to provide artificial rain technology, using chemical agents like silver iodide to induce precipitation, to help El Salvador combat droughts. Additionally, discussions are underway regarding large-scale well drilling and the development of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and hydroelectric power, to enhance food sovereignty and energy stability in the region.
