El Salvador and Honduras dismantle major drug‑trafficking cells

In El Salvador, the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) and the Policía Nacional Civil carried out 22 raids in the Morazán and La Unión departments, capturing 16 suspects and arresting 18 individuals linked to a network that stored, distributed and sold crack, cocaine and marijuana. Investigators identified three cells, with Irma del Rosario Villatoro Hernández acting as the main distributor. The operation seized phones, cash, a vehicle and small marijuana portions, and the detainees face charges for drug trafficking, illicit association and related offenses.

In Honduras, the Metropolitan Prevention Unit’s motorized squad (UMEP‑03) captured two high‑risk members of the MS‑13 gang in the Comayagüela area. The suspects, known as “Fresa” and “Lolo,” were found with an AR‑15 rifle, a 9 mm pistol, ammunition and several packets of crack cocaine. They were handed over to the capital’s prosecutors on charges of illegal firearm possession and drug trafficking.
