A week later, on 23 July 2026, the Second Organized Crime Court in San Miguel imposed up to 55 years on 124 members of the Sailor Locos Salvatruchos MS‑13 clique, including a 55‑year term for an alleged homeboy linked to a 2014 massacre. In Santa Ana, five members of the Batos Locos Salvatruchos clique received 30‑40 year sentences for illicit group activities.

The crackdown intensified on 30 July 2026 when a Salvadoran court handed 28 alleged members of the El Gremio criminal organization prison terms of up to 1,048 years, with two defendants receiving the maximum sentence. This verdict follows other mass trials – notably a July 15 trial of 485 suspected MS‑13 members and a December 2025 case that imposed sentences of up to 1,335 years on 248 MS‑13 defendants. The new judgments underscore the expanding judicial component of President Nayib Bukele’s “war on gangs,” while human‑rights organisations continue to condemn the proceedings as violations of due‑process and fundamental rights.
