Elanor Boekholt-O'Sullivan Defence Scandal Threatens Dutch Cabinet

Dutch housing minister Elanor Boekholt-O'Sullivan, a former commander of Eindhoven air base, is under scrutiny for a series of alleged defence‑related scandals. The controversies include attempts to silence whistleblower and former F‑16 pilot Victor van Wulfen, a non‑disclosure agreement, suspected perjury, alleged multi‑million euro fraud and unauthorized use of defence aircraft.

The case is slated for a public hearing in October, with several parliamentary questions still unanswered and three major defence debates scheduled between 10 September and 8 October. Defence Minister Hakan Yeşilgöz has rejected a settlement with van Wulfen and argues the matter remains under judicial review. The mounting pressure could force the governing coalition to collapse, as the scandal directly implicates the minister and threatens the stability of the Dutch cabinet.
