Elbistan-Göksun road safety demands urgent improvements

İbrahim Gök, a deputy chairman of the Yeniden Refah Party, has called for enhanced safety measures on the Elbistan-Göksun highway in Turkey. He emphasized that road safety is a fundamental right and that investments in infrastructure should not be delayed.

Gök noted that the route is vital for commercial and social mobility between districts. He argued that safety requires a holistic approach, including proper asphalt, curves, junctions, road markings, signage, lighting, and barriers to reduce driver error. He urged technical inspections to identify high-risk areas, such as those with poor visibility or inadequate junction layouts, to implement solutions before accidents occur.

Additionally, Gök highlighted the need for preparedness against winter weather conditions, including snow, ice, and landslides, which are known to affect the Göksun rural areas. He stated that equipment, personnel, and intervention plans must be ready before winter sets in to ensure citizens can travel without safety concerns.
