Elbistan road infrastructure and safety demands

Overview

Political representatives in Elbistan, Turkey, have raised concerns regarding road safety and infrastructure quality. Initially, İbrahim Gök of the Yeniden Refah Party called for urgent safety improvements on the Elbistan-Göksun highway, citing the need for better asphalt, signage, lighting, and winter preparedness to protect commercial and social mobility.

Following these calls, Sebahattin Kayabaşı, the Yeniden Refah Party Elbistan District Chairman, demanded immediate resolutions to road damage within the city's Tepebaşı, Esentepe, Battalgazi, and Cumhuriyet neighborhoods. Kayabaşı noted that ongoing infrastructure works have degraded roads and sidewalks, creating difficulties for pedestrians, the elderly, and people with disabilities. While the Elbistan Municipality and Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality have announced significant budgets for asphalt and road investments, local leadership emphasized that these funds must translate into visible, tangible improvements for residents.

In recent reports, Kayabaşı has reiterated his demands for urgent road repairs to address ongoing safety concerns for local residents.
