Eldorado Gold produces first copper-gold concentrate at Skouries
Eldorado Gold has announced the production of its first copper-gold concentrate at the Skouries project in northern Greece. This milestone marks the transition of the project from the construction phase to the operational phase.
The first concentrate was produced on September 8, following the initial ore feed into the crusher in July and the successful commissioning of crushing, grinding, flotation, and tailings thickening circuits. With an ore reserve exceeding 4.6 million tonnes and higher-than-expected grades, the company has secured more than seven months of continuous feed for a gradual increase in production.
CEO George Burns described the achievement as a decisive moment that begins a new chapter for the company. The Skouries project is considered one of the largest copper-gold developments in Europe and a major investment in Greece. Alongside the McIlvenna Bay project in Canada, Skouries is expected to transform Eldorado Gold into a more diversified producer of precious metals and critical minerals, enhancing free cash flow and the company's production base.
