Election Commission updates electoral roll schedules in India

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revised the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) schedule for electoral rolls in Maharashtra. Following a request from the Chief Electoral Officer of Maharashtra, the revised timeline moves the publication of the draft electoral roll to August 31. Voters have until September 30 to submit claims and objections, with the final electoral roll now scheduled for publication on November 4, delayed from the original October 7 date.

In Telangana, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has urged citizens to participate in the ongoing SIR process. He noted that the ECI released a draft electoral roll on August 17, providing a window until September 17 for verification and corrections. Owaisi advised citizens to attend hearings scheduled by Electoral Registration Officers or to submit Form 6 via Booth Level Officers if their names are missing from the draft list.
