Electoral updates: CPCCS candidates qualified and CNE magistrate elections pending

In Ecuador, the National Electoral Council (CNE) has qualified 61 candidates from an initial pool of 309 to compete for seats on the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control (CPCCS). Among those approved are current CPCCS officials Andrés Fantoni, Jazmín Enríquez, and Johanna Verdezoto, as well as former president Sofía Almeida. Notably, David Rosero and Piedad Cuarán failed to make the qualified list.

In a separate electoral development, the Congress of the Republic is scheduled to elect nine magistrates for the National Electoral Council (CNE) to serve a four-year term. The vote will draw from a list of 28 candidates proposed by various political parties and coalitions, including Pacto Histórico, the Liberal Party, and Centro Democrático. The selection process involves significant political maneuvering among the participating legislative blocs.
