Electra expands European EV charging network to 800,000 points with new app

Electra, a French ultra‑fast charging operator, has launched a new version of its mobile application to become a full‑service e‑mobility provider (eMSP). The app now gives drivers access to 800,000 charging points across Europe through a single interface and card, allowing users to search, plan, start and pay for sessions on any network. The platform features an algorithm that selects the optimal charger based on price, speed, availability and user preferences, and it displays transparent pricing without added commissions.

The company says the rollout is part of a broader push to simplify EV charging as the market reaches a “triple parity” with internal‑combustion cars. In France, Electra reports that its stations are used 7.5 times per day, far above the national average, and that revenues have grown thirty‑two‑fold in three years, with a target of €160 million in 2026. The expansion follows a strategy to consolidate a fragmented European charging market, which currently hosts over 100 operators in France alone. Electra also announced a new R&D laboratory in Bordeaux slated to open in 2026.
