Electric bus infrastructure developments in Bucharest and Lugoj

In Bucharest, the Bucharest Transport Company (STB) has identified a method to charge electric buses directly from the existing tram and trolleybus network. This solution, which requires minimal investment, could be utilized for future vehicle purchases. However, it cannot be applied to the 100 Granton electric buses recently acquired by the municipality because they lack the necessary technical specifications. Currently, due to unfinished rapid charging stations at STB depots, only a maximum of 56 of these new buses can operate daily using slow charging.

In Lugoj, the municipality and the commune of Coșteiu have received three new 12-meter electric buses as part of a public transport modernization project. The initiative is supported by the establishment of an Intercommunity Development Association for Transport, which includes Lugoj, Coșteiu, Găvojdia, Bârna, and Victor Vlad Delamarina. The project also includes the installation of six charging stations to support an integrated transport system connecting the municipality with its neighboring localities.
