Electric heavy-duty truck charging hubs expand in Georgia and California

New infrastructure projects are expanding to support the growing demand for electric heavy-duty truck charging in the United States. In Bryan County, Georgia, the Pilot Travel Center in Ellabell has unveiled a charging site featuring six Tesla megachargers. Each charger is rated for up to 1.2 MW, capable of adding approximately 300 miles of range to a Tesla Semi in roughly 30 minutes.

Tesla representatives noted that electric semis can be approximately 50% cheaper to operate per mile compared to diesel, despite higher upfront costs. Tesla aims to have over 100 megacharging posts operational this year, with a goal of 700 by the end of next year.

In California, EV Realty has announced a new electric semi truck charging hub in the Inland Empire. Located near the SR-60 and I-15 freeways, the site is positioned to service freight and logistics operations for the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, as well as major cargo hubs near Ontario International Airport.
