Indonesia expands electric vehicle and green energy initiatives
Indonesia is seeing significant developments in the electric vehicle (EV) sector and green energy transition. PT Paiton Energy has donated two electric shuttle units, known as ‘Angling listrik’, to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) to support sustainable tourism and reduce carbon emissions within the park. This initiative aligns with the government’s Net Zero Emissions 2060 target.
The EV market is also expanding with new product offerings. Indomobil eMotor has introduced the Sprinto, an electric scooter with a 110 km range and 50 percent local content (TKDN). Additionally, Green SM has officially commenced its electric scooter services across Jakarta, expanding its presence in the Indonesian market.
In the industrial sector, Shell Indonesia has inaugurated a new Grease Manufacturing Plant in Marunda, Bekasi. Despite the rise of EVs, the company noted that grease remains essential for lubricating various mechanical components in electric vehicles and industrial machinery. Meanwhile, PT Jorindo Agung has announced plans to expand its business operations into the green energy sector to promote long-term sustainability.
