Electric Truck Rollouts Expand in Australia and New Zealand

Woolworths and electrification specialist Zenobē announced Australia’s largest electric‑truck deployment, ordering 148 battery‑electric trucks for its delivery fleet. The rollout, backed by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, began in May with full deployment expected by 2026 and is touted as proof that large‑scale zero‑emission logistics is commercially viable.

Separately, Auckland‑based Etrucks was appointed distributor for Chinese manufacturer Zeron’s Jingzhe electric prime mover in Australia and New Zealand. The 6×4 truck, equipped with a 600 kWh CATL battery and an integrated e‑axle system, is slated to arrive in both markets by January 2027 and is designed for short‑ to medium‑haul freight with up to 550 km range and rapid charging capability. Zeron’s leadership includes veterans from TuSimple, SANY, and Foton, positioning the model for future autonomous‑driving applications.
