Electric vehicle adoption rises in Austria as manufacturers target affordable models
Electric vehicle adoption is seeing significant shifts in the Austrian market. In the region of Kärnten, September saw a record-breaking 30 percent share of new car registrations being electric. This marks a substantial increase from 18 percent in the previous year and just 2 percent in 2019, according to an analysis by the mobility organization VCÖ.
On the manufacturing side, Stellantis is launching an offensive to strengthen its European market position with more affordable electric models. This includes the E-Car platform and a new electric interpretation of the Citroën 2CV, which is expected to cost less than 15,000 Euro and enter the market in approximately two years. Additionally, Dacia has unveiled the new Spring, which is anticipated to arrive in Austria in early 2027.
