Electric vehicle charging costs in Belgium

In Belgium, the cost of charging electric vehicles varies significantly depending on the charging station, operator, charger type, and payment method. While home charging offers the most predictable costs, public charging is generally more expensive.

Market projections for 2026 suggest that standard AC charging in Belgium may cost between 40 and 55 cents per kWh, while DC fast charging could range from 55 to 75 cents per kWh. For example, filling a 60 kWh battery at a rate of 0.50 euro per kWh would cost approximately 30 euro, whereas a fast charger could easily push the cost above 40 euro. Some providers, such as Fastned, currently charge rates as high as 0.77 euro per kWh for standard services in the country.
