The electric vehicle market is expanding with a growing variety of models catering to different consumer priorities, such as range, price, and utility.
Kia is introducing the EV4 and EV5, presenting a choice between efficiency and space. The EV4, starting at approximately CA$41,000, offers a higher range of up to 552 kilometers (343 miles) with an 81-kilowatt-hour battery. In contrast, the EV5 starts near CA$45,000 and provides more cargo versatility and passenger room, though with a lower official range of approximately 457 kilometers (284 miles).
Other upcoming models in the North American market include Ford’s Fathom, expected in 2027 with a starting price around $30,000, and the revival of the Scout brand under Volkswagen Group, which plans to begin production of the Scout truck and Traveler SUV in 2027 with prices starting under $60,000. Additionally, Kia is developing an electric pickup targeted for 2030, and Genesis is preparing the flagship GV90 luxury SUV.
