Electric vehicle market grows in the Philippines

The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) market in the Philippines is experiencing significant growth. Sales in the first half of 2026 reached 5,531 units, a substantial increase from the 160 units sold during the same period in 2025. Jetour has emerged as a leader in this segment with the T1 Lightning i-DM model.

To support electric vehicle adoption, GAC Philippines has launched a promotional program running from September 1 to December 31, 2026. Customers purchasing a GAC AION UT or GAC AION V will receive a complimentary 7-kW wall charger and two years of free preventive maintenance service (PMS). The charger is designed for standard Philippine residential 220V lines and can charge a 60kWh battery in approximately eight hours.

Other notable models gaining interest in the electrified segment include the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, the Toyota RAV4 PHEV, and the Lexus NX450h+.
