Electric vehicle market trends show high depreciation and new car-sharing models
The electric vehicle market in France is experiencing significant shifts in both usage models and resale value. In the Loudéac Communauté Bretagne Centre region, local actors are exploring the expansion of a car-sharing model inspired by the 'Tartout’Go' service in Plœuc-L’Hermitage. This initiative, supported by the operator Clem’, offers Renault Zoé electric vehicles for a subscription of approximately 10 € per year to promote sustainable and decarbonized mobility.
Simultaneously, the used electric vehicle market is seeing a sharp decline in resale value. According to data from Leboncoin, electric cars face an average depreciation of 59% after five years, compared to 44% for internal combustion engine vehicles. The Renault Zoé has seen a record depreciation of 65% over five years, with its average price dropping from 32,445 € when new to 11,477 € on the used market. The Tesla Model 3 has also seen a value decrease of 56%. Despite these losses for owners, searches for used electric models have increased by 80% since April due to rising fuel costs.
