Electric vehicle misuse trends pose safety and warranty risks

Social media trends showing electric vehicle owners using the front compartment (frunk) as an improvised cooler for drinks have raised safety concerns among automotive experts. Videos have surfaced showing vehicles like the Geely EX2 filled with ice and beverages, while others demonstrate using Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology in wet conditions.

Eduardo Zambelli, director of electromobility at the Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Automotiva (AEA), warns that using the frunk for liquids can damage seals and vehicle systems, as these areas are not designed for drainage. Furthermore, using V2L technology in damp or flooded environments increases the risk of electrical shocks and accidents. Such misuse can also lead to the voiding of manufacturer warranties.
