Overview

Automotive experts are warning against social media trends involving the misuse of electric vehicles. Specifically, owners have been observed using the ‘frunk’ (front luggage compartment) as a cooler for beverages and ice.

Eduardo Zambelli, director of electromobility at the Brazilian Association of Automotive Engineering (AEA), notes that these compartments are not designed for liquid storage or drainage. Water from melting ice or condensation can reach electrical connections, electronic systems, seals, and interior linings, potentially causing mechanical damage and voiding manufacturer warranties.

Additionally, concerns have been raised regarding the use of Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology. Using this feature to power appliances in damp or flooded environments increases the risk of electric shock and damage to both the vehicle and the connected equipment.
