Electric vehicle resale values see high depreciation in Europe

A study by Leboncoin Auto reveals that used electric vehicles (EVs) in France face an average depreciation of 59% over five years. The impact varies significantly by model: the Renault Zoé shows a 65% drop in value, while the Dacia Spring experiences a lower depreciation of approximately 53%. Other notable models include the Tesla Model 3 at -56% and the Peugeot e-208 at roughly -60%.

In Greece, while the used EV market is still developing, trends in European markets suggest a similar downward pressure on prices compared to internal combustion engine vehicles.

To support the market, a new financial aid program in France has entered into effect. Funded by energy suppliers through energy savings certificates (CEE), this subsidy applies to the purchase or long-term lease of used 100% electric vehicles from professionals. The aid is available regardless of income, provided the vehicle's battery retains at least 80% capacity. Home care professionals may qualify for enhanced subsidies of up to approximately 2,000 euros for specific electric models.
