Electricity consumers in Spain can achieve annual savings of between 150 and 300 euros by optimizing their usage based on time-of-use pricing. Due to a surge in solar energy production, midday hours have become significantly cheaper, sometimes rivaling or even beating the traditional low-cost nighttime hours (00:00 to 08:00). In some instances, wholesale prices have dropped to 0.00 €/MWh during peak solar production between 13:00 and 16:00.

To manage electricity costs effectively, consumers are advised to monitor their meters to prevent billing errors. If a discrepancy is found between the bill and the meter reading, consumers should document the evidence with photos and historical records. Organizations like DECO Proteste suggest that if a formal complaint is filed before the payment deadline, the disputed amount may be suspended. If disputes remain unresolved, consumers can request official complaint books or escalate the matter to the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE).
