Electricity prices rise in the Iberian wholesale market

Electricity prices in the wholesale market have seen consecutive increases. On Thursday, August 13, 2026, the average price reached 138.90 euros per megawatt hour (€/MWh), a 2.66% increase from the previous day's 135.31 €/MWh.

Price volatility remains high throughout the day. The lowest cost is expected between 12:00 and 13:00, dropping to 29.09 €/MWh. Conversely, the peak price is projected for the 21:00 to 22:00 window, reaching 244.03 €/MWh.

Data from the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE) indicates that while midday periods benefit from lower costs, nighttime hours see significant spikes, with several intervals exceeding 200 €/MWh.
