Electricity service disputes and tariff protests in Peru and Argentina

In Peru, ENOSA has clarified the distinction between individual claims and general complaints regarding electricity services. Claims are intended for specific supply issues, such as excessive billing, refusal to install new connections, or improper service disconnection. In contrast, complaints are designated for widespread issues affecting multiple people, including service interruptions, public lighting deficiencies, or electrical risks caused by overvoltage.

In Argentina, consumer rights organizations FODECUS and REDECUS have announced joint actions to protest rising electricity tariffs and the slow response from state institutions. The groups reported that administrative and judicial processes regarding supply failures and damaged appliances can take up to two years to resolve. They have called upon the Defensoría del Pueblo to intervene, warning that the removal of government subsidies is causing significant economic harm to vulnerable populations.
