Electrolux layoffs talks stall in Italy as unions condemn lack of progress

The first technical meeting between Electrolux, Italian unions and the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (Mimit) on 25 June ended without any breakthrough on the company's plan to cut about 1,700 jobs nationwide. Union representatives from Fiom‑Cgil and Fim‑Cisl said the company offered no meaningful concessions and warned that the future of sites in Porcia, Susegana, Forlì, Solaro and Cerreto d’Esi remains uncertain.

Deputy Debora Serracchiani (PD) urged the parties to produce concrete results quickly, while the government signalled readiness to employ ordinary or extraordinary tools if negotiations stall. European Parliament member Alessandro Ciriani linked the dispute to broader EU Green Deal regulations. The meeting concluded with a “black smoke” verdict, leaving the fate of the planned redundancies and the continuity of Italian production in limbo.
