Electrolux urged by Italian regions and mayors to withdraw restructuring plan

The regional government of Friuli Venezia Giulia and a coalition of mayors from the Pordenonese area have called on Electrolux to abandon the restructuring plan it announced for its Italian factories. Officials said the proposal, which would sharply cut production capacity and staff, threatens thousands of jobs and the industrial fabric of the region. Regional assessors and the Veneto president asked the company to engage in a joint dialogue with trade unions and local authorities before any changes are made, emphasizing the need for concrete investment to preserve employment.

The demand was reinforced in a video conference chaired by the national Minister for Enterprises and Made‑in‑Italy, with local leaders presenting a signed document that condemns the plan as "unacceptable" and urges a new, socially responsible industrial strategy.

Electrolux has not yet responded, but the coordinated pressure from regional administrations and municipal leaders signals a politically backed effort to protect jobs and maintain production in Italy.
