Electronic Arts confirms Star Wars Battlefront 3 development
Electronic Arts has confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront 3 is currently in development. The project is being handled by two of the publisher’s internal studios, Respawn Entertainment and DICE, on behalf of Lucasfilm.
According to reports from Variety, the news was shared with employees during a period of significant layoffs at the company. The announcement positions Battlefront 3 as a priority project alongside Battlefield 6 and Apex Legends. This follows previous industry reports suggesting that Lucasfilm had given the green light for a third entry in the shooter series.
The Star Wars Battlefront franchise saw its last modern release with Battlefront 2 in 2017. While that title initially faced criticism regarding microtransactions, it experienced a resurgence in popularity by 2025, reaching record simultaneous player counts on Steam due to community activity on platforms like Reddit and TikTok.
