Electronic Toll Payment Systems Expand in Argentina and Mexico

In Argentina, drivers who are not enrolled in the TelePase electronic toll system can settle unpaid tolls online. Payments can be made through contactless credit or debit cards, QR‑code scans, or virtual wallets via the Corresur website, which requires vehicle registration details. The platform aggregates toll records from multiple concessions, allowing users to view and clear pending charges in a single account, and it encourages free enrollment in TelePase for automatic, lower‑cost toll collection.

Mexico’s federal road authority (SICT) announced that all cash toll booths will be eliminated by the end of 2026. An investment of 528 billion pesos will modernize the network, requiring drivers to use electronic TAG devices such as Televía, PASE, IAVE and EasyTrip. TAG‑equipped vehicles will receive priority at toll plazas, while cash payments will face longer queues. The shift aims to improve safety, reduce robbery risk, and increase efficiency for freight and passenger transport, with options for prepaid, bank‑direct, credit‑card or mobile‑app recharges.
