Aeschylia Festival and cultural events announced for Greece and Italy

The 52nd annual Aeschylia Festival in Elefsina, Greece, is scheduled to begin on August 30, 2026. The cultural program, which runs through October 3, features theatrical plays, musical concerts, visual art exhibitions, and film screenings. The festival will open with a free public concert at the local archaeological site titled ‘Lucky Star,’ performed by Thodoris Voutsikakis and Lina Nikolakopoulou. Many events will be held at the Iris Cultural Centre, a repurposed former factory site featuring protected interwar industrial architecture.

In Gela, Italy, the ‘Aischylia – Feste in onore di Eschilo’ initiative will present Aristophanes’ comedy ‘The Frogs’ on September 5 and 6, 2026. Held at Orto Pasqualello, the production involves students from the Accademia d’Arte del Dramma Antico of the Fondazione Inda. The event aims to highlight the historical connection between Sicily and the figure of Aeschylus.
