Elektromreža Srbije confirms power grid readiness for winter
Dragan Rakić, Chief Dispatcher of Elektromreža Srbije (EMS), announced that Serbia's transmission system is prepared for the upcoming winter. All planned power line repairs have been completed after being temporarily delayed due to high temperatures and heavy network loads during the summer months.
Daily electricity consumption has decreased following a drop in temperatures. While summer peaks reached between 95 and 98 million kilowatt-hours per day, current consumption levels are between 80 and 82 million kilowatt-hours, representing a reduction of approximately 17 to 18 percent compared to summer highs.
Regarding the regional energy situation, Rakić noted that low water levels have impacted hydroelectric production. While conditions have improved since August, Hungary has increased its nuclear power production to approximately 2,000 megawatts, whereas the Cernavodă nuclear plant in Romania is currently not producing electricity.
